Prof. Li Shuzhuo has entered into the first batch of “leading talents” for the Program of Ten Thousand Talents in Philosophy and Social Sciences, according to the name list recently unveiled by the Organizational Department of the CCP Central Committee, PRC. He is also the first expert to win this honor in Shaanxi Province.
Prof. Li is Director of Institute of Population and Development and Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholar Program. His academic achievements include 1) establishing the research model for public policy innovation, which is composed of “academic research, policy analysis, community experiments and public policy innovation”; 2) establishing the research team construction model which has talents at the core, targets at major social issues and encompasses talent-cultivation, team construction, research platform and international communication; 3) launching the academic directions of gender & development, environment & land, population & social policy, rural-urban migrants & their social integration, and aged population & their health. Prof. Li and his research group have conducted researches in Chinese population and sustainable social development with influential findings. He is a consultant with the national ministries and Shaanxi provincial government, contributing to social development. Under his leadership, his research group was selected as the Changjiang Innovation Team by Ministry of Education in 2008. In the same year, he was selected as one of the ten Man of the Year in the Care-for-Girls Campaign. In 2011, he was honored with ““Fudan Management Award for Outstanding Contribution”.
Ten Thousand Talents Program, or National Special Support Program for High Level Talents was launched in 2012 and aims to select 10,000 people in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, philosophy, social sciences and higher education over a period of 10 years. They will be provided with special funding for their original research and the related talents cultivation and team construction.
