His research mainly focuses on health system and health policy issues concerning China’s healthcare system, which specifically includes: health service research, healthcare reform assessment, prevention of chronic disease and people’s health, hospital management and quality of healthcare. During the recent five years, he has been awarded ten research grants which respectively funded by China’s National Foundation of Natural Science, American China Medical Board, UBS Optimus Foundation and so on. Based on these projects, he has published more than 50 academic articles, including 28 articles published in international journals indexed by SCI/SSCI. In 2015, he was included in the "Nationalhigh-level talents special support plan (‘thousands of people plan’)". He is the member of International Health Economics Association and the committee member of China Health Economic Association. He is also the Editorial Board member ofGlobal Health Research and Policyand the referee of 15 international journals.
