Jie Li is professor of Institute for Population and Development Studies and deputy director of Research Center for Population and Social Policies, School of Public Policy and Administration, Xi’an Jiaotong University. She received her Ph.D in Management Science from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China in 2002, and received her M.A in Economics in Northwest University, China in 1991. She was a senior visiting scholar at Woods Institute of Environment, Department of Biology, Stanford University, Nov 2012-May 2013, and a visiting scholar at School of Public Administration, California State University, Hayward during June-Sep 2002, etc. Her research interests include rural household livelihood, environmental policies in China, rural tourism and poverty alleviation, etc. From 2009 till now, she has been leading investigators of “Theoretical and empirical research on the payment for ecosystem service policies upon the rural household livelihood in Western China”(Grant No.71273204),“Community Participation, Poverty Alleviation through Ecotourism in Key Ecological Function Zones: Evidence from the Southern Shaanxi Province ”(Grant No.71573205) , and “Theoretical and empirical study on rural household livelihood and relevant public policies in Western China from the vulnerability perspectives’(Grant No.70773094)), supported by the National Natural Science Fund of China,“Research on Sustainable Tourism Development in China based upon the Tourism Satellite Account and Relevant Methodologies”, China Social Science Fund.(Grant No.08BJY124). And she has been the co-principal investigator of two international joint projects, “Linking Ecosystem Service Policies and Human Wellbeing: A New Framework, Tools and Application” supported by Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, and “Rural Household Dynamics, Livelihood Choice and the Environment in western China”, supported by the Nature Capital Project, Stanford University. She was awarded by the Education Ministry of China“Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University”in 2012, and was selected asSanqin Talentsby the Shaanxi Provincial Government andYoung Talent Support Program for Human and Social Sciences in the Universities in Shaanxi Province Chinarespectively in 2013 and 2015. She has published more than 70 papers (8 SSCI) and 10 books in Chinese. She got Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Awards 2012, etc.
